MINNEAPOLIS, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Net Perceptions, Inc. (Nasdaq: NETP)
expanded in the first quarter of 2000 what already was the largest customer
base in the realtime personalization and customer-focused analytics technology
sector, highlighted by the addition of such Fortune 100 customers as SBC
Communications, J.P. Morgan, Walgreens and J.C. Penney. The quality and
nature of these and other recent customer wins demonstrate Net Perceptions'
continued advancement into new industries such as telecommunications,
financial services and general merchandising -- layered atop its dominant
retail e-commerce client portfolio.
Major new partnerships in the quarter hold promise for continued strong
customer growth both domestically and abroad through reseller agreements with
i2, CSC Computer Sciences, Ltd. and Bluestone, as well as cross-selling
partnerships with Oracle, Documentum and Informatica.
"The first three months of 2000 collectively represent a defining moment
in the growth of Net Perceptions as a company and in the recognition of
personalization as an important new business standard," said Net Perceptions
President and CEO Steven Snyder. "Our technology, which first took root with
savvy e-commerce businesses -- from Amazon.com to ZoneTrader.com -- now sees
powerful new applications in every corner of business. The caliber of the
companies to whom we are providing our products and services of late emboldens
our vision that personalization-centric enterprises are indeed the future of
business."
As of March 31, 2000, Net Perceptions' customer base totaled more than
190 customers. Twenty-five newly licensed customers were added during the
first quarter, thanks in part to a significant broadening of product
distribution through channel partners and international sales efforts. Of the
18 new retail-oriented customers, 11 are multi-channel retailers, consistent
with Net Perceptions' strategy of focusing on this key segment of the retail
industry.
Overall, first quarter revenues for Net Perceptions were up 401 percent
over the $1.9 million reported in the same period last year and 51 percent
from the $6.3 million reported in the fourth quarter, exceeding analysts'
expectations by more than 26 percent.
