MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 22, 2000--Net Perceptions,
Inc. (Nasdaq: NETP), a leader in precision marketing and
personalization software, is the top-ranked fastest growing young
hi-tech company in Minnesota, according to Deloitte & Touche. The
Rising Star Award, presented last night, represents a new category in
the 2000 Minnesota Technology Fast 50 awards program. Rankings for the
new Rising Star category are based on revenue growth during the
previous three-year period 1997 to 1999.
"This award recognizes the efforts of a great team of people from
around the globe - not just Minnesota," said Steven Snyder, Net
Perceptions president and CEO. "Generating this level of growth in
such a short period of time symbolizes the commitment and talent of
the people we have working for us."
Net Perceptions' increase in revenues of 4673 percent in the
three-year period of 1997 through 1999 resulted in a #1 ranking
overall in the Rising Star category for Minnesota. Each of the Rising
Star winners had more than 2,000 percent growth. Other winners in the
category were Digital River, a Net Perceptions partner, which had 2936
percent growth and Charter Solutions, Inc., which had 4108 percent
growth for the last three years. The average increase in revenues
among companies who made the Fast 50, the category for older, more
established hi-tech firms, for this region was 842 percent, an
increase over last year's average of 683 percent.
"We congratulate Net Perceptions for its tremendous achievement
and success in a relatively short period of time," said Ron Hafner,
Deloitte & Touche partner in charge of the Fast 50 for Minnesota. "The
Rising Stars are emerging companies to watch. Companies like Net
Perceptions are playing a starring role in developing the
infrastructure in the new economy. We are happy to honor their
achievement with this award."
To qualify for the Rising Star award, companies must have had
revenues of at least $50,000 in 1997; be public or private companies
headquartered in the region; and be "technology companies" defined as
a company that produces technology, manufactures a technology product,
is technologically intensive, uses technology in problem-solving, or
devotes a high percentage of effort to research and development of
technology. Criteria are the same for the Fast 50 category, with the
exception that 1995 revenues must be at least $50,000.
Winners of the 21 regional Fast 50 programs in the United States
are automatically entered in the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500
program, which ranks the nation's top 500 fastest-growing technology
companies. For more information on the Deloitte & Touche Fast 50 or
